Transparency About AI-Assisted Work

How We Use AI

60AndOver.net may use artificial intelligence and other software tools to assist with parts of our research, writing, editing, analysis, formatting, coding, and website development process. This page explains where AI may help and the standards we aim to follow before content is published.

Last Updated: September 25, 2026

Our Approach to AI

Artificial intelligence can be useful for organizing information, improving workflow efficiency, exploring ideas, assisting with technical tasks, and helping turn complex material into clearer explanations.

At the same time, AI systems can make mistakes, misunderstand context, present outdated information, or generate statements that sound confident without being sufficiently supported.

For that reason, we do not treat AI output as automatically accurate or authoritative.

AI assistance does not replace editorial responsibility. 60AndOver.net remains responsible for the material it chooses to publish, regardless of which tools helped during the workflow.

How AI May Assist Our Work

AI-assisted tools may be used for tasks such as:

Research Organization

AI may help organize questions, topics, source material, notes, and areas that require further verification.

Drafting Support

AI may assist with outlines, early drafts, rewrites, summaries, or alternative ways to explain a subject.

Editing & Readability

AI may help identify unclear wording, improve structure, reduce repetition, or simplify explanations.

Technical Development

AI may assist with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, calculators, tools, debugging, and other website development tasks.

Data & Analysis Support

AI may help organize data, check calculations, identify patterns, or assist with analysis that is later reviewed.

Content Maintenance

AI may help identify outdated sections, broken structures, missing context, or opportunities to improve existing content.

AI Is Not Automatically a Source

AI-generated text is not treated as an authoritative source simply because it appears detailed or confident.

When factual information matters, especially in areas involving health, money, government programs, safety, travel requirements, or product specifications, we aim to verify important claims using appropriate sources.

Those sources may include government agencies, medical organizations, official documentation, manufacturers, universities, regulatory bodies, established data providers, or other relevant primary and authoritative sources.

More information is available on our About Our Sources page.

Editorial Review

AI-assisted content may be reviewed, revised, reorganized, expanded, shortened, or rejected before publication.

The level of review may depend on the type of content and the importance of the information being presented.

Higher-risk topics deserve greater scrutiny than ordinary entertainment or lifestyle content.

AI and Health Content

AI is not a physician, pharmacist, nurse, therapist, or other healthcare professional.

We do not treat AI-generated health information as medical advice or professional medical review.

Important health claims should be checked against appropriate medical, scientific, regulatory, or public-health sources.

Health content should also make appropriate distinctions between general educational information and individualized medical advice.

For additional information, please review our Health & Medical Content Policy .

AI and Financial Information

AI may assist with explanations, examples, calculations, or research organization involving financial topics.

However, financial rules, benefit amounts, tax provisions, insurance terms, interest rates, and government program requirements can change.

Important financial information should be checked against appropriate current sources rather than relying solely on generated content.

AI and Government Information

Topics involving Social Security, Medicare, government benefits, eligibility requirements, regulations, or official deadlines may change over time.

When these details matter, official government sources should be given greater weight than AI-generated summaries.

Readers should confirm important decisions directly with the relevant government agency when appropriate.

AI and Product Content

AI may assist with organizing product specifications, comparing features, summarizing documentation, or structuring buying guides.

AI assistance does not mean a product was physically tested.

We should not claim firsthand use, personal testing, durability experience, comfort, or other direct experience unless that experience actually occurred.

Product specifications should be checked against appropriate manufacturer or retailer information when relevant.

More information is available in How We Review Products .

No Invented Firsthand Experience

AI can generate convincing descriptions of experiences that never happened.

We do not want generated text to create false impressions that a writer personally:

  • Used a product
  • Stayed at a hotel
  • Took a cruise
  • Visited a destination
  • Spoke with a physician
  • Tested a medical device
  • Received a particular treatment
  • Used a financial service

If content is research-based, it should be presented as research-based rather than disguised as personal experience.

No Invented Credentials or Professional Review

AI assistance does not create professional credentials.

We do not label content as medically reviewed, legally reviewed, financially reviewed, or professionally reviewed unless an appropriately qualified person actually performed that review.

We also do not want AI-generated text to invent experts, qualifications, interviews, quotations, or professional endorsements.

Quotes, Citations, and References

AI systems can sometimes generate inaccurate quotations, incorrect citations, nonexistent studies, or links that do not support the claim being made.

Quotations and important references should be checked against the original source when they are used.

We should not knowingly publish invented quotations or fabricated sources.

AI-Assisted Calculators and Tools

AI may assist with the design, coding, debugging, or explanation of calculators, estimators, search tools, and other interactive features.

A tool should not be assumed correct simply because its code was generated or reviewed with AI.

Formulas, calculations, assumptions, and outputs should be checked where practical, especially when a tool relates to financial, retirement, health, insurance, or government information.

AI-Assisted Games and Interactive Features

AI may help with game concepts, code, accessibility improvements, sound logic, scoring systems, interface design, or troubleshooting.

Recreational games should not be described as medical treatment or proven prevention for cognitive or neurological conditions unless reliable evidence supports the specific claim.

AI-Generated or AI-Assisted Images

60AndOver.net may use AI-assisted or generated visuals where appropriate.

Generated images should not intentionally mislead readers into believing they show a real person, product, location, event, or documented situation when they do not.

Product imagery should be handled with particular care so readers are not shown fictional products or misleading representations of items being discussed.

Privacy and Sensitive Information

AI tools may be provided by third parties with their own privacy, security, and data-handling practices.

We aim to avoid unnecessarily entering highly sensitive personal information into AI tools when it is not needed for the task.

Website privacy practices are described more broadly in our Privacy Policy .

Automation Does Not Mean Automatic Publication

Software can automate parts of a workflow without making the final publishing decision.

AI may help generate drafts, organize material, identify technical problems, or suggest improvements, but content does not need to be published simply because a tool produced it.

Material may be changed substantially or discarded if it does not meet our standards.

Known Limitations of AI

AI systems can produce useful work, but common limitations may include:

  • Incorrect factual statements
  • Outdated information
  • Invented sources or citations
  • Overconfident language
  • Missing context
  • Misinterpretation of complex questions
  • Errors in calculations or code
  • Unintended bias
  • Repetitive or generic writing

Understanding these limitations is one reason verification and editorial judgment remain important.

Corrections to AI-Assisted Content

AI-assisted content is subject to the same general correction standards as other content on 60AndOver.net.

If an error is identified, we may review the relevant source material and correct, clarify, update, or remove the information when appropriate.

More information is available in our Corrections Policy .

AI and Commercial Relationships

AI may assist in creating content that includes affiliate links, product recommendations, or other commercial relationships.

The use of AI does not change our responsibility to disclose relevant affiliate or sponsored relationships.

Commercial compensation should not determine whether an unsupported factual claim is treated as true.

Our AI Content Standard

What We Aim to Do

  • Use AI as a tool, not as unquestioned authority.
  • Verify important factual claims against appropriate sources.
  • Apply extra care to health, financial, government, and safety content.
  • Never invent firsthand experience.
  • Never invent professional credentials or medical review.
  • Check important quotations, citations, and references.
  • Be clear when research is research-based rather than personally tested.
  • Correct meaningful errors when they are identified.
  • Keep editorial responsibility with 60AndOver.net.
